The Brookdale National Fellowship Program

This program was part of The Brookdale Foundation Group's response to major demographic changes taking place in our society, and its commitment to a national effort to train a new generation of leaders in geriatrics and gerontology.

Our Fellowship Program ended in 2003.  After nearly a generation of supporting the Fellowship Program, our Board believed that it should pursue its deep interest in the field of aging through new approaches.  As this Program ended the Brookdale Institute on Aging will began.  The Institute's purpose is to sustain and expand the Fellowship network, increase knowledge and promote interdisciplinary dialog in both geriatrics and gerontology.

The National Fellowship Program, began in 1985 and sought those who had the professional expertise, capacity and potential to become leaders in the fields of geriatrics and gerontology. Brookdale National Fellows conducted research which, it is hoped, lead to a society that is more knowledgeable and more responsive to issues related to aging.
